L'histoire
A Chenonceaux (Indre et Loire), Louis et Madeleine Jeudi exploitaient l’Hôtel du Bon Laboureur et Château. En avril 1944, ils hébergèrent deux jeunes filles, les soeurs Wanda et Iza Galezowski. Elles avaient fui Paris après l’arrestation de leur mère et de leur grand-mère, juives toutes deux. Déportées à Auschwitz, elles n’ont pas survécu à la Shoah. Wanda et Iza avaient cru jusqu’alors que les persécutions raciales ne les visaient pas, étant filles d’un père catholique, né en Pologne. Mais peu après le débarquement allié en Normandie, Louis Jeudi fut informé d’une action imminente de la Gestapo, à la recherche des soeurs Galezowski. Sans perdre une minute, il leur organisa la traversée du Cher – qui était la ligne de démarcation – dans le domaine du château de Chenonceaux. Madeleine guida elle-même les deux jeunes filles et les dirigea vers le domicile de son frère et sa belle-sœur, Roger et Madeleine Auclert, à Luzillé, en zone sud. Ceux-ci s’empressèrent de recevoir les fugitives et trouvèrent pour elles une chambre chez des fermiers, les Brezioux. Le couple Auclert continua à veiller jusqu’à la Libération sur les soeurs Galezowski, leur vouant une chaleureuse amitié.
Le 2 novembre 1999, Yad Vashem a décerné à Louis et Madeleine Jeudi le titre de Juste parmi les Nations.
