Au début de 1944, la famille Fribourg avait trouvé refuge à Saint-Sulpice (Tarn). Un fonctionnaire de la préfecture de Toulouse l’avertit d’une rafle imminente. M. Fribourg prit contact avec des résistants locaux qui l’adressèrent au chef de leur réseau, Louis Rouxes. Ce dernier vivait à St-Lieux-les Lavaur, village situé à sept kilomètres de là, avec sa femme Amélie, leurs deux enfants âgés de 19 et 20 ans et l’ami de l’un d’eux. Les Rouxes offrirent l’hospitalité aux six membres de la famille Fribourg dans leur petite maison. C’est ainsi que onze personnes y vécurent pendant six mois. Les Fribourg n’osaient pas sortir dans la journée; à la nuit tombée, ils allaient faire un peu d’exercice et respirer l’air pur dans le jardin. Au cours de ces derniers mois de l’Occupation, les activités de la Résistance s’intensifiaient. Louis Rouxes effectuait des missions nocturnes auxquelles se joignait souvent M. Fribourg. Après le débarquement allié sur la côte française de la Méditerranée, le 15 août 1944, les Rouxes décidèrent de mettre les Fribourg en sécurité à Giroussens, un petit village où ils attendirent la libération de la région, à peine une semaine plus tard, le 21 août. Bien des années après la guerre, Annette Fribourg, qui n’était qu’une enfant pendant l’Occupation, revint à St.Lieux-les-Lavaur et rencontra des anciens du village qui n’avaient pas oublié. Elle apprit ainsi que tout le village savait que les Rouxes cachaient des Juifs, mais que personne n’avait parlé.
Le 24 octobre 1995, Yad Vashem – Institut International pour la mémoire de la Shoah, a décerné à Louis Rouxes, sa femme Amélie et leur fille Janine le titre de Juste parmi les Nations.
