Camille et Fernande Rivoire habitaient à Romans (Drôme). En janvier 1943, ils acceptèrent d’héberger Renée Spindel, une adolescente juive de seize ans. Elle avait pu quitter l’Autriche avant la guerre grâce à une oeuvre caritative qui l’avait confiée en France à l’organisation « OSE ». Passant d’un établissement à l’autre dans des conditions souvent difficiles, Renée fut finalement placée chez les Rivoire grâce à Aimée Regache (q.v.). Camille et Fernande s’en occupèrent avec dévouement, et sans chercher la moindre contrepartie, jusqu’après la fin de la guerre. En août 1945, sa mère, ayant appris où elle se trouvait, vint la chercher. Renée resta en relations avec ses sauveurs même lorsque, mariée, elle s’installa aux Etats-Unis. Elle fit plusieurs voyages à Romans pour leur rendre visite. A la mort de Camille, Renée vint réconforter Fernande.
Le 12 juin 1994, Yad Vashem a décerné à Camille et à Fernande Rivoire le titre de Juste parmi les Nations.
