Tous deux nés à Paris, les Boisse, des catholiques français, y vivaient au début de la guerre. Le mari dirigeait un établissement de vente de laine en gros dans le second arrondissement appelé « Chez M. Boisse ». L’un de ses vendeurs, Imbert, était juif. Pendant l’occupation, ses patrons, inquiets pour lui, sa femme et leur fillette Jacqueline, leur offrirent hospitalité et asile dans leur sous-sol. Il accepta immédiatement. De 1943 à la Libération en août 1944, le sous-sol devint la demeure des Imbert. Les Boisse leur apportaient de la nourriture et tout ce dont ils avaient besoin, rapidement et dans la plus grande discrétion, afin de ne pas attirer l’attention. Lorsqu’Imbert eut épuisé ses économies, les Boisse continuèrent généreusement à veiller à leurs besoins. C’est Jacqueline, qui n’avait que six ans à la Libération, qui vint porter témoignage, après la mort de ses parents et des Boisse, d’après les récits que lui avaient faits son père et sa mère.
Le 28 novembre 1989, Yad Vashem a décerné à Renée Boisse et à son mari le titre de Juste des Nations.
